Excerpts taken from "tell your own fortune" by Jane Struthers.
I
had heard of Tarot cards, I ching, Oracle etc.
but had never understood what they meant. In this book - Ms. Jane Struthers
has given everything and very beautifully too. Wish I had found this book much
earlier - this "all in one book" - kind of the same feeling as Sidney
Sheldon's "The Doomsday Conspiracy"
- where the hero wishes that he had met the last guy first and
his investigation would have been so much easier !!- but it does'nt happen this
way i suppose - whats the fun then eh?- this Doomsday Conspiracy reminded me
of what Lobsang Rampa had said about the melting of earth..or a dying planet!
the major arcana
These twenty-two cards are also known as the trump cards. They show man's journey through life and are believed to reflect the twenty-two paths of the cabbalist Tree of Life, and also to reflect jung's archetypes. They are fascinating avenues to explore if you are interested in discovering the links between the different esoteric traditions. The cards illustrated here belong to the Universal Rider-Waite deck, a more brightly coloured version of the original Rider-Waite deck Each card contains a wealth of images that echo its meaning and will trigger your intuition.
The Fool
In many decks the Fool is unnumbered because it forms both the start and finish of the sequence of Major Arcana cards. This is the card of beginnings, which are usually embarked upon with enthusiasm, optimism and enterprise, even when other people pour scorn on them. A fresh start is being undertaken with almost childlike confidence and the firm conviction that all will be well.Very often it is, but this card warns of the dangers of overlooking potential pitfalls and obstacles. You may be so determined to step out into the unknown that you ignore the inherent problems involved in taking that path.(like me...just look what I am upto - trying to release the poor women out of the world wide web of boredom ...ie.Whoredom!- only a fool like me can do it - what say you?)
The High Priestess
The main message of this card is to follow your intuition and trust your
instincts. These may speak to you through dreams as well as through conscious
knowledge, so you should be open to the messages the universe is giving you.The
High Priestess can also refer to a period of study or learning, especially if
it has spiritual connections or will introduce you to a new aspect of yourself.
Alternatively, you may be about to embark on a period in which you will learn
from experience. The card can also indicate that you will benefit from the
advice of someone who is probably older than you.(I
have always got such eerie and uncanny dreams that I can't tell you...okay I'll
tell you ..for example before getting a job in The Park, I had seen it in my
dream...similarly HCL Frontline job - I'd seen it in my dreams...and the most
amazing dream - when I got admitted in Arena Multimedia - I had seen it in (the
building and structure of Arena) my dream ..some 6-7 years before joining...ie.
at a time when Arena did not even exist in Kolkata !!since I remember dreams
very well , I was surprised to see the manifestation of my dream after 7 years
!!)
The Empress
This is a card of creativity, fertility and abundance.Since creativity
comes in many forms, the Empress can describe the birth of a cherished child
or the dawning of an idea that will bring tremendous emotional satisfaction.
If the question concerns a romantic relationship, this card suggests that it
will be happy and fulfilling. It may lead to marriage or some other form of
emotional commitment. This card may also refer to a house move, especially if
it will bring you into closer contact with nature, perhaps through a beautiful
garden or a rural setting. In the words of the twentieth-century American mythologist
Joseph
Campbell, the Empress is telling you to follow your bliss.
Queen of Wands
This woman is able to combine running a home with other interests. She enjoys expressing her versatility and creativity. She also has plenty of intuition which she uses in a light-hearted way. Popular and loyal, she makes a good friend and is very compassionate when necessary. Nevertheless, she is always quick to put people in their place if she thinks they have stepped out of line.( do you think I am quick enough?)
Queen of Swords
This is a woman who has had her fair share of difficulties, yet she has lived
through them with endurance and fortitude. She could be a widow and she probably
lives alone. She takes life seriously and may have cut and dried opinions.
If life has been hard for you recently, this card is telling you to take a stoical
attitude and to trust that things will gradually improve. In the meantime you
will learn valuable lessons through adversity.
Queen of Cups
This woman is an earth mother She is compassionate, considerate and enjoys
taking care of people. She is also intuitive, sensitive and a natural choice
for anyone needing a confidante. She may also have psychic gifts, whether or
not she uses them. Nevertheless, there is an unworldly quality to her a sense
that she may be in contact with realms that are not available to everyone, nor
understood by them..(whoa-ha-ha-ha - be careful honey!)
Queen of Pentacles
This
card shows a successful businesswoman. Pragmatic and practical, she tolerates
neither fools nor time-wasters. She is a hard worker and enjoys the material
benefits that her work brings. Although she may not be creative in an artistic
sense, she does have the ability to create a sense of abundance and prosperity
for herself and her family.( my family is this world
- give me a chance for a change - I know it will be pretty difficult for many
men to view a fully clad woman all the time ...but I suppose all good times
- (of watching nudies) come to an end)
After reading the qualities of all the queens , I felt very queen - like - like I have always felt about myself ! Hail Me !!
